Chop-Shop Customs, a restoration shop in Woburn, Massachusetts, had three of its project vehicles place in the top 50 at last weekend’s 3rd Annual Rod & Custom Nationals, held at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel and Trade Center in Marlboro, Massachusetts. The awarded vehicles were a 1957 Chevy Corvette Fuelie, a 1967 Chevy Camaro and a 1968 Mercury Cougar.

Chop-Shop Customs displayed four vehicles at the show, the three top 50 vehicles and a 1970 Chevy Nova the shop has built to be given away by the Right Coast Association, which promotes and co-promotes the DuPont Hot Hues Syracuse Nationals and other events.

“Usually we’ll [display] a couple of fresh cars and a past car that has some miles on it,” said owner Lenny Schaeffer. “[We want to] show that, in fact, our cars do get used, so that’s the reason for the two fresher cars that really haven’t been driven yet and then a car that has miles on it to show that the cars get used.”

The 1967 Camaro was finished two years ago and has about 10,000 miles on it, according to Schaeffer. Chop-Shop customs installed a Chris Alston’s Chassisworks’ suspension kit on the vehicle and did an LS2 conversion with automatic overdrive.

The 1957 Corvette Fuelie and 1968 Cougar were both finished within the last three months. The Fuelie was a numbers-matching concourse restoration that to over a year to complete. The stock-looking Cougar was fitted with a Chris Alston’s Chassisworks’ Total Control suspension kit, Wilwood disc brakes, a Tremec five-speed transmission and rack-and-pinion steering.
