It’s something most guys want to know: what really goes on inside famous Playboy Mansion?
I don’t know what was going on inside the Mansion on Saturday night, although I’m sure it was full of exotic and beautiful women. I do know, however, that the lawn in front of the Mansion was also full exotic and beautiful things, only those had turbocharged engines under their hoods!
Since 2006, Mopar Collector’s Guide has hosted its Muscle Cars at the Mansion event on the lawn of the Playboy Mansion. It’s a charity event that benefits the Lili Claire Foundation, which helps special needs children. For 2010, Hugh Hefner allowed another fleet of beautiful muscle cars to park out on his lawn and this year’s car roster did not disappoint!
It’s exciting just to be at a place as famous and mysterious as the Playboy Mansion. If you add a slew of rare and high-end muscle cars to the mix, it doesn’t get much better! I’ve been to a lot of car shows, but I’ve never seen anything like this one!
The first cars I saw were the original 1966 Sonny and Cher Mustang convertibles, which were customized for the pair by the King of Kustomizers, George Barris, who also attended the party and posed for photos with fans in front of the cars. Other cool cars on display included a 1969 Corvette roadster powered by a super-rare L88 427 engine, as well as a 1967 GTO that was featured extensively in the upcoming movie “Faster” starring Billy Bob Thornton and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Event attendees were also treated to seeing the very first of the 50 Golden Anniversary Hurst Vipers that were built. This 2008 Hurst Viper SRT is the only one that features the matte gold paint scheme! Very cool!
Other cars featured at the event included:
- 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle from D&P Classics
- 1969 Ford Boss 429
- 1967 Nickey Super Camaro Stage III L88
- 1969 Daytona Yellow Chevrolet Camaro
- 1969 Ford Mustang from Pure Vision
- 2010 Chevrolet Lingenfelter TA from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering
- 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Stage II S Nickey Super Camaro #21
- 1969 Chevrolet Ralley Sport z/28 Camaro
- 1969 Ford Ranchero GT
- 1969 Pontiac Trans AM
- 1967 “Canadian” Pontiac Beaumont Sport Deluxe from Cheetah
- 1968 Dodge Charger
- 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge
- 1971 Pontiac Trans AM
- 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30
- “Jackass,” a yellow 1969 Chevrolet Camaro
- 2010 Mr. Norm Camaro
- 2009 Mr. Norm GSS
Check out the rest of my photos from the Muscle Cars at the Mansion event! (I apologize for poor quality of some of the photos. It was raining most of the night, which didn’t help to do any of these beautiful cars the justice they deserve!)
The 2011 Muscle Cars at the Mansion car show will be held in October of next year. Although the date hasn’t officially been set, you can go to www.musclecarsatthemansion.com for updates.
