“Magnitude,” the 1932 Muroc roadster owned by Jerry Magnuson, has won its second major award of the season, taking home the Goodguys 2010 Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year title during the 13th PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. The roadster previously won the Street Rod d’Elegance Crown at the Goodguys Del Mar Nationals.
The hand-formed roadster was built by Marcel and designed by Chip Foose. It features an LS-1 Chevy with a intercooled Magnacharger, a Tremec 6-speed with polished Kugel 9-inch, a Kugel I.F.S and I.R.S., a custom Kugel chassis, chopped Carson top, DuVall windshield, hidden headlights and a custom dash by Magnuson.
Other features of the car include upholstery by Jim Griffin, tunneled seats and a two-tone butterscotch pearl paint with champagne metallic.
In traditional So-Cal hot rod fashion, the car features one-off, Foose-designed “bigs and little’s” – 17×70-inch tires in front and 20×10-inch out back, all wrapped in Scorpion Zero rubber.
Magnuson is the owner of Magnuson, an automotive aftermarket known for its “Magnacharger” super charger kits.
In addition to “Magnitude,” the top five finalist for the award included Brent Scheider’s 1937 Ford Cabriolet, Harold Schrader’s 1935 Ford, Scott Burton’s 1933 Ford and Jim Eckford’s 1933 Ford.
