This weekend, a number of organizations, car clubs and businesses around the country are hosting car shows that give retailers the opportunity to show off builds, connect with new customers and support community organizations that are helping out the less-fortunate during the holidays. The Classic Chevy Car Show will be held Saturday at the Challenger Space Center in Peoria, Arizona. A children’s charity toy run will be held during the event and $1,000 will be donated to Saint Mary’s Food Bank. Other activities include a story-time reading of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” ornament making, the “Understanding the Nature of Light” show and extreme space weather demonstrations. The Toys for Tots Benefit Car & Bike Show will be held Saturday at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. The event will feature pre-1973 drag racing cars, hot rods, muscle cars and motorcycles, as well as live bands, a raffle and food. The Island Cruisers Car Club, with assistance from the No Boundaries Car Club, is hosting the Deck Your Vehicle Competition Car Show Saturday in Banning, California. Attendees are invited to decorate their vehicle for the holidays, and awards will be presented for best lights and best holiday theme. The event will feature a DJ and holiday festivities. All attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more, or pay a $10 entry free. Toys and proceeds will be donated to the Banning Recreation Community Center. The East Los Angeles Car Show and Holiday Toy Drive takes place Saturday at the East Los Angeles Occupational Center in Los Angeles. Trophies will be presented for the best in categories including Lowriders, Bombs, Trucks, Imports, Bikes and ECC Choice. The event will feature food, contests and a performance by Los Angeles’ only all-female salsa band, L.A. Salsa Divas. There will also be free haircuts, basic manicures, makeovers and face painting for the children. Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy or pay a $10 entry fee. The Putman County Fairgrounds Auto & Cycle Swap Meet & Show takes place Sunday in East Palatka, Florida. Car Show King presents the 5th Annual Toys for Tots Official Custom Auto Show & Toy Drive Sunday in Miami.
