Dave Lane, owner of FastLane Rod Shop in Donahue, Iowa, has been named the 2012 Grand National Roadster Show Builder of the Year, show producer RodShows.com has announced. Lane will have a booth at the show, which takes place Jan. 27, 28 and 29 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, where he will display several builds.

The Tin Man’s Garage will be hosting a live metal shaping demonstration right on the show floor of the 2012 Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show. New for 2012, the demo will be held in shop’s booth and will show attendees how metal-shaping techniques such as buck building, pattern making and pullman can be used on a variety of materials.

The 1962 custom Corvette “Elegance” built by Johnny’s Auto Trim in Alamosa, Colorado, will be auctioned live at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Corvette, which appeared on the cover of the July 2011 issue of Hotrod & Restoration, was named one of the “Great 8″ cars at the 2011 Detroit Autorama.

Though it wasn’t originally intended to be a show car, Harold and Ruth Wiley’s elegant 1939 Buick Special, built by Kindig-It Design, became the first four-door vehicle to be named America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod when it took the honors at the 2011 West Coast Nationals.

Tim Burton had wanted a Limelight Green 1969 GTO Judge since he first saw one in his neighborhood when he was 14 years old. Once he tracked down and purchased his own GTO, Burton spent over 3,000 hours researching and restoring the muscle car so that it was as close to stock as possible.
