Detroit Speed Debuts New 1963 Chevy II Test Car

Detroit Speed has announced that it has added a new 1963 Chevy II to its family of test cars. The recently completed test car features the company’s Chevy II Front Frame, Inner Fenders and the new Chevy II QuadraLink. The car also features Detroit Speed’s Chevy II Deep Tubs, which took home an Innovation Award at the 2010 Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show.

The Chevy II  joins other DSE test cars that include the Twister Camaro and a 1965 Chevelle.

Prestolite Performance Acquires of QuickTime

Prestolite Performance, the parent company of brands such as Mr. Gasket, Lakewood, ACCEL, Hays and Mallory, has announced that it has acquired QuickTime, Inc., a manufacturer of lightweight bell housings and racing accessories. QuickTime’s manufacturing and R & D will continue to be based out of its headquarters in Oskaloosa, Iowa, while its sales, service and administration will transfer to Prestolite’s Cleveland headquarters by the end of the year. QuickTime President and CEO Ross McCombs will join the Prestolite team doing new product innovation.

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits to Serve as Grand Marshal of Blue Suede Cruise

Drag racing legend “Big DaddyDon Garlits will serve as the Grand Marshal of the Goodguys 9th Blue Suede Cruise, which will be held August 20-22 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Garlits, who was voted the greatest driver in the history of NHRA drag racing, will be signing autographs and selling memorabilia at the cruise. One of his vintage dragsters, “Swamp Rat,” will also be at the show.

Jack Roush Hospitalized Following Plane Crash

Jack Roush is shown accepting the Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 HRR Trade Show in March.

Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush Fenway Racing and chairman of Roush Enterprises, has been hospitalized following a plane crash at Wittman Regional Airport in OshKosh, Wisconsin, Roush Enterprises is reporting on its website.

Roush, in town for the annual EAA AirVenture show, was landing his Hawker Beechcraft Premier jet when the accident occurred. He was transported to a local hospital. Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says that Roush is in serious but stable condition.

Video: Rob Ida Concepts Takes the 'Vanishing Point' Challenger to the HRR Trade Show

Rob Ida Concepts displayed several cars at the recent Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show, including the 1970 Dodge Challenger “Vanishing Point,” a Featured Vehicle in the March 2010 issue of Hotrod & Restoration.

The Rob Ida Concepts team took the Challenger around Indianapolis, shooting video of that late-night trip and the car’s time on the showroom floor, which includes an interview with David Kidd of “Vanishing Point” paint supplier Planet Color and demonstrations of the car’s coolest features, like its card-swipe entry system.

The Numbers Are in for the 2010 HRR Trade Show!

HRR Trade show floorIt’s official: the 12th annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show was a huge success! The number of attendees and the number of exhibitors were both up from 2009’s show. Attendees from over 900 companies enjoyed the only trade show designed for their industry!

4,359 people registered for the show, and attendance was up 10% from 2009!

138 companies exhibited at the show, a 27% increase from last year.

In addition, 41 states were represented at this year’s show, as well as 9 countries, with attendees coming from as far away as New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Nigeria!

We had more show cars than ever before, with 24 muscle cars, hot rods, classic trucks and customs on display throughout the show floor.

2010 Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show Is a Success!

The 12th Annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show, held last week at the Indianapolis Convention Center, proved to be a big hit with both exhibitors and attendees, with attendance numbers up for both.

The show hosted 40 successful manufacturer’s seminars during the Education and Training Day on Thursday; and two days on the show floor filled with business, networking and exciting events.

Here’s a quick look at what went on during show, which is the only trade show exclusively for the hot rod, street rod, muscle car and classic truck markets. Check out the May issue of Hotrod & Restoration for complete coverage of the show!
