Very Rare Delorean ‘XP-833’ Concept Car for Sale on eBay

The auction for this rare car will end on Sunday, September 19.

The “XP-833″ concept car that was designed and built by automotive innovator John Z. Delorean is now up for auction on eBay.

The extremely rare 1964 Pontiac Banshee Firebird coupe is the original prototype built by Delorean and still has its original interior, paint and drivetrain intact.  Only two prototypes, a roadster and this coupe, exist.

This Weekend’s Car Show & Event Roundup

This weekend, associations, communities, museums and car clubs around the country are hosting car shows and cruises that give retailers the opportunity to show off their projects, connect with new customers and support local organizations. The BlackTop Nationals takes place Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Wichita, Kansas. Organizers expect more than 4,000 cars, trucks and bikes to compete for cash awards and prizes in more than 13 classes. The BTN will also host a collector car and motorcycle auction featuring rare and exotic cars, bikes and purpose vehicles to be auctioned off to benefit the Kansas Aviation Museum, McPherson College Restoration Program and Wichita Children’s Home. The Goodguys‘ 24th annual West Coast Nationalstakes place in Pleasanton, California, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The show will feature over 3,000 rods, customs, classics and muscle cars through 1972 competing for special awards including 2010 America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod, 2010 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist, 2010 Truck of the Year Early Finalist, Goodguys Builders Choice Awards, Street Rodder Top 100 Event and PPG Dream Car categories. More Than $64.59 Million in Collector Cars Sold at Pebble Beach Auction

This 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider sold for $6 million, setting a new world record for LWB California Spider sold at auction.

Gooding & Co., the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, sold more than $64.59 million in collector cars at the annual Pebble Beach Auctions, achieving its highest-ever recorded sales total in its Pebble Beach history, the company has announced. With only 106 lots sold, Gooding & Co.’s price per car averaged $609,000 at the Aug. 14–15 auction, according to the company.

Three vehicles sold for more than $6 million each at the auction—a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, a 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza and a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta SEFAC hot rod—achieving new world sales records during the live auction and also ranking as Pebble Beach Auto Week’s top three cars sold at auction this year, according to Gooding & Co.

Mecum Auction to Offer 500 Classic Cars at Des Moines Event

More than 500 collector cars, including a rare 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback, will cross the auction block during the Mecum Des Moines Auction, July 16-17, 2010, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The Mecum Des Moines Auction will take place in the air-conditioned Varied Industries Building at the fairgrounds. The event is open to the general public, with tickets available at the door for $15. To view a complete list of vehicles that will be auctioned, visit www.Mecum.com.

The Paddock to Liquidate Assets at Auction

The Paddock, a muscle car part distribution center that has been opened since 1965, closed its doors in recent months and will now be auctioning off everything inside the building.

The live auction will be held on-site at the company’s facility in Knightstown, Ohio.

Indianapolis-based commercial auction group Key Auctioneers will be facilitating the auction, which is said to include parts, cars and equipment. The bulk of the inventory will be sold in ten large segmented lots and will be segmented. A large variety of parts will also be sold individually, including sheet metal, gauges and other items.

SEMA Launches Website to Prevent Illegal Street Racing

In an effort to move drag racing from the streets to the racetrack, SEMA and the Street Performance Council (SPC) have launched an all-new “Racers Against Street Racing” (RASR) website to make it easier for racers to find a listing of sanctioned racetracks.

The goal of RASR is to educate drivers about the dangers of street racing and stunts that put them—and others— at risk of serious injury and death. The site, www.rasr.org, provides individuals with a resource to locate professionally controlled environments in which today’s performance and speed enthusiasts can participate in automotive-related events throughout the United States.

RM Purchases Indiana Auction Park From Kruse

RM Auctions has announced in a company statement the purchase of the 235-acre auction park located in Auburn, Indiana, from long-time automobile auctioneer Dean V. Kruse. Kruse had his auction license suspended for two years in May by the Indiana Auctioneer Commission and his company, Kruse International, had its auction license permanently revoked.

As part of the company’s overall expansion plans, Rob Myers, chairman and founder of Blenheim, Ontario-based RM Auctions, also announced in the company statement the formation of Auctions America by RM, a new RM subsidiary created to operate the recently acquired auction facility, specializing in the presentation of 1950s and 1960s classics, customs and muscle car segment of the collector car market.

Rare Cars Bring in Over $41 Million at Mecum Spring Classic Auction

Over 1,000 vehicles crossed the auction block last week at Mecum’s 23rd annual Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis. This included an eclectic mix of classic muscle cars, race cars and trucks. According to Mecum, the total gross sales for the five-day auction totaled $41.7 million!

This Weekend’s Car Show & Event Round-Up

Attending a car show can be a great way to get exposure for your shop. Here’s the lowdown on 10 shows and events taking place this weekend around the country.

The Fourth Annual Monterey Rock & Rod Festival takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Monterey Fairgrounds in Monterey, California. This classic and custom car show and oldies rock festival benefits Gateway Center of Monterey County, Inc., a non-profit organization that serves the needs of developmentally disabled adults throughout Monterey County. The show will feature hundreds of pre-1972 hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, trucks and customs. The event will kick off on Friday evening with a Sock Hop featuring live 1950s- and 1960s-style music starting at 6 pm. Saturday will feature the car show and performances from a variety of rock ‘n roll bands on the Payton Stage, including headlining act The Shirelles featuring Beverly Lee. 250+ Classic Cars Expected at Budweiser's Houston Brewery for Car Show

Car ShowThe 19th annual United Way Bud Classic Car Show is set to take place this Saturday, May 1 in Houston. An expected 250 classic cars of all makes, models, years will compete for more than 150 awards.

The show will be held at Anheuser-Busch’s Houston Brewery, and money raised at Saturday’s event, which will also include an auction, will go to support the United Way of Greater Houston.
