WyoTech Hosts Charity Classic Car Show

The Wounded Warrior Car Show benefits the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, a nonprofit that provides financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The sixth annual Wounded Warrior Car Show is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 11 at WyoTech’s Long Beach campus.

The car show, which is open to all pre-1974 show cars, trucks and special interest vehicles, benefits the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, a nonprofit that provides financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Space is reserved for the first 225 vehicles that register. A T-shirt, goody bag and dash plaque are included with registration; the cost is $35 before July 12 and $40 on the day of event.

Lane Automotive Car Show May 24-25

Lane Automotive Car Show

Lane Automotive will host its 25th anniversary car show May 24-25, with free entry for spectators and participants.

Enthusiasts from all over the Midwest will bring more than 1,200 hot rods, customs, race cars, muscle cars, custom trucks and special interest vehicles to the show, according to a Lane Automotive press release.

The silver anniversary celebration will commence May 24 with the sixth annual Open Header Cruise. Participants cruise through downtown Coloma and Watervliet, Mich., to their final destination at the Lane Automotive Cruise Night celebration.

Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Spend this spring weekend showing off your latest projects, meeting new customers and supporting local organizations at a car show. Shows being held this weekend include the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Corral and the NSRA Western Street Rod Nationals Plus. Information on these and five additional shows is listed below.

The Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Corral takes place Wednesday, April 24- Sunday, April 28 at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Fairgrounds. The event features a collector and classic car swap meet, car corral and auction. Thousands of automotive enthusiasts are expected to attend the rain-or-shine event, which will also include over 8,000 vendor spaces, and 2,000 vehicles for sale. Gate times are as follows: Wednesday through Saturday: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday: 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults ($5 on Sunday), and free to children 12 and under. The 2013 Bama Coast Cruise will be held Thursday, April 25-Saturday, April 27 at the Wharf Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. The cruise will be held in conjunction with the Wharf Boat & Yacht Show, and will feature raffles, a swap meet, a car show, a poker run, parade cruise, live music and more. A variety of shows and events are being held this weekend that give you the chance to check out some awesome cars, connect with future customers and help out your community, including the Hotrods & Harleys 2013 Spring Run and the Big 3 Car Show. Information on these and four additional cars shows are detailed below.

The Petersen Automotive Museum of Los Angeles will host its first public alternative fuels symposium titled “Why Alt Fuels Now” on Thursday, April 18. The event will feature a public symposium and an alternative fuel technology display, and will explore the driving forces, such as high gasoline prices and increased consumer and corporate environmental awareness. The symposium, which runs from 1:00-5:00 p.m., will feature three different panel presentations and discussions, and be followed by a reception. The cost to attend the event is $40 for students, $70 for museum members and members of the alternative fuel industry and $80 for general admission. For more information, go to www.petersen.org.

The 14^th Annual Hotrods & Harleys 2013 Spring Run takes place Thursday, April 18- Sunday, April 21 at the Avi Resort & Casino in Laughlin, Nevada. The car show, which is put on by the River Cruizers Car Club, is open to all vehicles, with participants receiving a goodie bag, dash plaque and awards being given for different classes. Doheny Wood 2013 takes place Saturday, April 13 at Doheny State Park in Dana Point, California.

This weekend, car shows, swap meets and events are taking place across the country that allow you to show off your completed project vehicles, mingle with other builders, and advertise your shop to potential clients. The NSRA kicks off its 2013 event schedule this weekend with the Southwest Street Rod Nationals Plus. Read below for information on this event, as well as six others that are taking place this weekend.

The NSRA Southwest Street Rod Nationals Plus takes place Friday, April 12- Sunday April 14 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The event kicks off the NSRA’s 2013 event schedule and will feature a swap meet, Women’s World area, and a car show open to cars 30 years old or older. Admission to the event will be $14 for those 13 years or older, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free to those 5 and under. For more information, click here.

Doheny Wood 2013 takes place Saturday, April 13 at Doheny State Park in Dana Point, California. The event, which is presented by Southern California Woodie Club will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to wooden vehicles only. Held along the Pacific Ocean, the event will include a raffle of woodie- and surf-related items and a great display of woodie wagons. The annual Goodguys Del Mar Nationals takes place this weekend in Del Mar, California.

Spend this spring weekend at a car show, such as Goodguys’ Del Mar Nationals. Events like this, and the six others detailed below, provide great opportunities to show off your best work, meet new customers and support community organizations.

The first Twilight Cruise of 2013 will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California. Hosted by Cal-Rods Car Club, the event will run from 4-8 p.m. and is open to all 1970-and-earlier rods, customs, classics and muscle cars. The event will include raffles, a 50/50 drawing, food and celebrity photo opportunities. All proceeds from the event will benefit the NHRA Motorsports Museum. For more information, click here.

A free NHRA driver autograph session and FanFest will be held on Thursday, April 4 at the New York New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The event will kick off the NHRA Nationals weekend, which will take place at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event on Thursday will include autograph signings from 6-8 p.m., a driver question-and-answer session, music and door prizes. ’51 Merc Custom Wins Goodguys 2013 Mother’s Custom of the Year Award

1951 Mercury custom wins the Goodguys 2013 Mother’s Custom of the Year award

Nick Rogers’ radical 1951 Mercury custom won the Goodguys 2013 Mother’s Custom of the Year award at the Goodguys 31st All American Get-Together presented by Specialty Sales Classics March 23-24 in Pleasanton, Calif.

Rogers’ candy-blue Merc beat out a stellar national field of customs, collecting its second major award this spring. The car also won the coveted Custom d’Elegance crown at February’s Sacramento AutoRama, according to a Goodguys press release.

The ’51 Merc was finished and produced for the show season by Bill Ganahl’s South City Rod & Custom and started with “humble beginnings.”

Twilight Cruise Night Returns to the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum

Twilight Cruise Night returns to NHRA Museum

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, Pomona, Calif., presented by Automobile Club of Southern California, announced the return of its monthly Twilight Cruise Night presented by Prolong Super Lubricants.

The Cruise Nights will be held on the first Wednesday of every month, April 3-Dec. 4, from 4-8 p.m. with free museum admission after 3 p.m., according to a news release from the NHRA Motorsports Museum.

Open to the public and cruisers, Cruise Nights include family friendly festivities such as music, food vendors and raffle prizes. Attendees also have the opportunity to participate in the special end-of-the-year Grand Prize Drawing featuring a California Hot Rod Reunion Getaway Package, an Auto Club NHRA Finals Weekend Package and a Smith-Million Union 76/Mobil Gasoline Tanker Collector Truck with all proceeds benefiting the museum.
