Maloof Racing Engines in San Gabriel, California, played host to Autobooks-Aerobooks Car Night last Thursday night. The event provided the shop the opportunity to not only show off its customers’ rides, but also promote its Winning at the Race of Life charity event that will be held on Nov. 12. At the upcoming event, which will raise money to feed the poor and homeless, as well as provide counseling programs for young adults in need, Maloof Racing Engines will raffle off a 1969 Chevelle featuring a 383-c.i. stroker delivering 540 horsepower and 565 lbs./ft. of torque that was built at the shop and displayed during Thursday’s show.
The shop and the charity are both operated by Sammy Maloof, a Hollywood stunt driver whose credits include “Gone in 60 Seconds” and “Transporter 2,” and an engine builder with more than 30 years’ experience. Maloof started the charity Winning at the Race of Life 11 years ago and hosts events throughout Los Angeles providing outreach services and doing stunt driving demonstrations.
