Goodguys Event Will Raise Money for Nashville Flood Relief

The three-day event will be held at LP Field in Nashville.

Goodguys will partner with Hands on Nashville during the Goodguys 5^th Bridgestone Nationals to help raise funds for the victims of the Nashville floods. The event, which begins Friday, May 21 and will run through Sunday, May 23 in Nashville, is now not only a weekend to celebrate rods and customs, but a rallying point for flood relief efforts for the city.

This Weekend’s Car Show & Event Round-Up

This weekend is packed with more opportunities for hot rod shops and enthusiasts to pull their treasured classic cars out of storage and show them off! Here’s the lowdown on 10 shows happening this weekend around the country that you can attend to highlight your best work and get acquainted with potential customers.

The 4th edition of the Meguiar’s Orange County Get Together, a Goodguys event, takes place Saturday and Sunday at the O.C. Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, California. The event will feature an indoor car show, cruise lane, vendor exhibits, live entertainment, an outdoor midway, autograph sessions and autocross. The show runs Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission is $17 and kids 7–12 get in for $6. Parking is $5. For more information, visit www.ocgettogether.com.

'Slow Burn' Named 2010 Goodguys West Coast Custom of the Year

Rick Dore was working on "Slow Burn" when HRR profiled him in November 2009.

Metallica front man James Hetfield teamed with famed stylist Rick Dore to create “Slow Burn,” a pristine 1936 Auburn boat tail speedster that ended up being named the 2010 Goodguys West Coast Custom of the Year at the 28th All American Get-Together in Pleasanton, California. This was the second time in two years that one of Hetfield’s cars landed in the top five for the award; his 1937 Ford was a finalist at last year’s event.

1932 Muroc Roadster Named Goodguys Street Rod d’Elegance at Del Mar

Jerry Magnuson’s “Magnitude”—a sleek and stylish 1932 Muroc roadster—was crowned the 2010 Goodguys Street Rod d’Elegance last weekend at the 10th Del Mar Nationals in Del Mar, California.

The elegant roadster was hand-formed by Marcel and designed by Chip Foose. It features an LS-1 Chevy with an intercooled Magnacharger (not surprising, being that Jerry Magnuson is the owner and CEO of Magnuson Products!)

Goodguys BOSS Snake Giveaway Car Unveiled

The car will be displayed at all of Goodguys' 2010 national events.

The long awaited debut of the BOSS Snake Goodguys Giveaway car gave fans a thrill at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona, as the car was introduced to a capacity crowd at the 1st Spring Nationals.

The car was designed by Keith Kaucher of Kaucher Kustoms in Santa Monica, California and built completely in-house by the team at RPM Hot Rods of Warrendale, Pennsylvania. The BOSS Snake features a 770 horsepower, Jon Kaase-built 520-cubic-inch Boss Hemi, as well as a RideTech suspension with Chris Alston components.

Car of the Month: 1953 Chevy 150 Sedan

Parke Bishop, Jr.’s 1953 Chevy 150 Sedan is a prime example on how to put a modern twist on a classic car and make it a standout in both arenas.

Featuring an array of both custom and aftermarket parts this “cinnamon and ginger” show-stopper stands somewhere in the middle of retro and recent, and the industry has taken notice; the car was one of seven finalists competing for the 2008 Goodguys Custom Rod of the Year award and has been featured on the show circuit.

The spicy sedan, which Bishop originally purchased for $500, features a stock Chevy chassis, custom cross-members and a Heidt’s front end and Currie 9” rearend.

Phil and Jeremy Gerber named Goodguys Trendsetters for 2009!

The Gerber brothers of the Roadster Shop accepted the award at the HRIA Industry Reception at the 2009 SEMA Show.

Phil and Jeremy Gerber of the Roadster Shop were presented with the Goodguys Trendsetter award at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The award is presented annually at SEMA to rising young talents in the realm of rod and custom car building.
