Rare Cars Bring in Over $41 Million at Mecum Spring Classic Auction

Over 1,000 vehicles crossed the auction block last week at Mecum’s 23rd annual Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis. This included an eclectic mix of classic muscle cars, race cars and trucks. According to Mecum, the total gross sales for the five-day auction totaled $41.7 million!

Time Is Running Out to Be Part of Show ‘N Shine at 2010 NHRA Hot Rod Reunion

Every year hundreds of cars, ranging from muscle cars, rods and trucks, to classics and customs, drive in from across the country to participate in the annual hot rod pilgrimage to the SoffSeal Show ’N Shine at the 8th Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion. This year’s event takes place June 18-20 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Contenders are selected from various categories including Classic, Classic Chevy 1955-1957, Custom, Hot Rod, Memory Lane, Muscle Car, Pro Street, Rat Rod, Street Rod, and Trucks.

This year, the competition will be fierce, as the 10 Best of the Best winners, as well as the Top 50 entries from the Reunion, will be invited to the 56th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals (Sept. 1-6) at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

Video: Rob Ida Concepts Takes the 'Vanishing Point' Challenger to the HRR Trade Show

Rob Ida Concepts displayed several cars at the recent Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show, including the 1970 Dodge Challenger “Vanishing Point,” a Featured Vehicle in the March 2010 issue of Hotrod & Restoration.

The Rob Ida Concepts team took the Challenger around Indianapolis, shooting video of that late-night trip and the car’s time on the showroom floor, which includes an interview with David Kidd of “Vanishing Point” paint supplier Planet Color and demonstrations of the car’s coolest features, like its card-swipe entry system.

2010 Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show Is a Success!

The 12th Annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show, held last week at the Indianapolis Convention Center, proved to be a big hit with both exhibitors and attendees, with attendance numbers up for both.

The show hosted 40 successful manufacturer’s seminars during the Education and Training Day on Thursday; and two days on the show floor filled with business, networking and exciting events.

Here’s a quick look at what went on during show, which is the only trade show exclusively for the hot rod, street rod, muscle car and classic truck markets. Check out the May issue of Hotrod & Restoration for complete coverage of the show!

Jack Roush Presented With Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award

On Friday, March 12, Jack Roush became the eighth recipient of the prestigious Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award during the Grand Opening Breakfast of the 12th annual Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show. Roush accepted the award in front of nearly 1,000 hot rod and restoration industry members at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
